Law – What is it Good For?
When it comes to selecting bandmates, the process is often pretty indiscriminate. Whether it’s you sister’s boyfriend, a dude you went to school with, or a complete stranger with semi-competence on a particular instrument, the screening process is not always what it might be. So it can come as a surprise to learn that this random combination of individuals, with varying motives (art, commerce, boredom), skills and commitment, is in fact part of a legal entity (a partnership) with shared assets, liabilities and responsibilities. This session will look at who gets paid, who gets sued, and who owns what in the sometimes complex world of the band. We will also look at the most common contractual pitfalls for bands and who is ultimately responsible if things turn sour.
Friday Feb 24 | 12:15 – 1:15 pm
Speakers | David Vodicka, Ben Strong, Franz Schuller, Geoff Trio
Moderator | Darren Sanicki

Games & Music – “Talkin Bout A Resolution!”
